Before comparing prices, fix six things: the number of visits, what one visit includes, the unit count the price covers, the gas and parts policy, the after-hours rate, and whether VAT is in the number.
Why the same words carry different prices
Look at what one publisher prints for AC maintenance in Dubai across three of its own pages. Its services overview lists AED 150-450, its maintenance guide puts a single split visit at AED 150-350+ a visit, and its contract guide puts a year of cover for most apartments at AED 450-2,500 a year.

None of those numbers is wrong. They measure a visit, a year, and something unstated. A company quoting you AED 400 could be at the top of one bar or the bottom of another, and only the scope tells you which.
The six questions
- How many visits a year? Contracts run 2-4 scheduled visits a year, and the difference between two and four is the difference between two prices.
- What is in one visit? A standard visit covers a filter wash, drain flush and general check. Ask specifically whether a chemical coil clean is included once a year or quoted separately.
- How many units does the price cover? Get the indoor unit count and the outdoor unit written on the quote. This is the single most common reason two quotes differ.
- What is the gas and parts policy? Usually excluded: gas top-ups, spare parts, duct cleaning and unlimited emergency call-outs. A parts discount of 10-20% off parts is common, so ask what two or three typical parts cost.
- What happens at 11pm in August? Ask for the response time and the after-hours charge.
- Is VAT included? The UAE rate is 5%. See VAT on AC maintenance.
Two claims that should slow you down
"Free gas top-up every year." Refrigerant is not consumed: AC refrigerant should not need routine refilling in a sealed system. A plan built around annual top-ups is a plan built around not fixing a leak, which the gas refill guide goes into.
"Duct cleaning included." Sometimes true, often a filter and grille wipe. Published duct prices for a studio alone range from AED 350-600 on one page to AED 500-900 on another from the same publisher, so a contract that folds in a real duct clean at no extra cost deserves a written scope.
Put the quotes in one table
Write the six answers into a table before you look at the prices again. In our experience of reading these pages, two of three quotes usually turn out to be the same job once the unit count and visit count are pinned down, and the third is a different product entirely.
Then sanity-check the total against published ranges for your home size using the AMC calculator. A quote well under the range is not a bargain by itself. It is a prompt to ask which of the six answers changed.
